Blood Orange?!
Last night I had the privilege of trying one of the seasonal flavors called "blood orange." The toppings that that I added (actually Mike added not me) were strawberries, mochi balls, almond slices and orange gummy bears. He thought that since the yogurt is called "blood orange," adding orange gummy bear would be a good idea. He couldn't be more wrong. Before adding gummy bears as well and M&Ms, you need to remember that these toppings become extremely hard when they get cold. So if you are expecting a nice soft chewy texture, go with mochi balls not gummy bears. Overall the yogurt was surprisingly tasty. Excluding the gummy bears of course. The strawberry with the almond slices make a pretty good mix. Sometimes strawberries can be overly sour especially with non-tart flavors but in this case, they blended nicely with the "blood orange" yogurt. I think the surprise was in the texture of the almond slices. You don't actually taste the almond, which I don't know how that could be a good thing but the crunch was quite nice. As for the mochi balls, I personally could of gone without. I think the yogurt would of been perfect with a heavy dose of strawberry, sprinkled with a handful of almonds. Try it. Let me know what you think.
More to come....
